Comments: Sloop Papillon, with her cargo of tobacco and lard, was captured in the West Indies, by HM Frigate Antelope (Captain William Judd) about September 1777. Papillon was owned in South Carolina. The date of capture is arbitrary, and could have been in October. Papillon was sent into Jamaica, British West Indies, and tried and condemned there.
