Comments: Sloop Beauford [Beaufort] was bound from South Carolina, where she was owned, to the West Indies with a cargo of rice. About September 1777 she was captured by HM Frigate Æeolus (Captain Christopher Atkins), probably in the vicinity of the Turks Islands, British West Indies. Beauford was sent into Jamaica, British West Indies and was tried and condemned there. Although the date of capture is estimated, it is probable.
