Comments: Pennsylvania Privateer Brig Fame was owned by Blair McClenachan of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was at sea under Commander Francis Knox in May 1777. Fame was listed as being armed with eight guns. Fame was en route from St. Pierre, Martinique, in the French West Indies to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a cargo of rum, molasses, salt, cordage and dry goods. She was captured by HM Frigate Brune (Captain James Ferguson) on 28 May 1777 (or 1 June 1777) off Cape Henlopen, Pennsylvania. Fourteen prisoners from the Fame were transferred to HM Frigate Roebuck later in that day. The prize was escorted to St. Augustine, where she arrived on 22 June. Knox was confined in irons.
