Comments: The 85-ton schooner Spry (William Yardsley) was owned in Maryland. She was armed with four guns and had a nine man crew. Spry sailed from St. Martin’s [Sint Maarten], Netherlands West Indies on 26 March 1777, bound for Maryland with a cargo of salt. The next day, 27 March, Spry was sighted by HM Brig Antigua (Lieutenant William Swiney) and captured at 18°30'N. A prize crew of four men went aboard and the prisoners were removed to the Antigua. The prize was sent into Antigua, British West Indies. She was tried and condemned on 24 April 1777.
