Comments: The 100-ton Massachusetts Privateer Brigantine Alexander (Commander Gideon Crawford) was at sea in 1782. She was listed as being armed with six guns and eight swivel guns and as having a crew of thirteen or fourteen men. Her owners were listed as William Foster and others of Boston. Alexander was captured by the British in late 1781 or in 1782. In her High Court of Admiralty record she is noted as a former Newfoundland merchant vessel, captured by the Americans.
