Comments: The brig Three Friends was captured by HM Frigate Mercury (Captain Montagu) about June 1777, while Mercury was en route to New York, New York. She was bound from the Piscataqua River, New Hampshire to Curaçao, Netherlands West Indies. She was to be fitted as a privateer there. Three Friends was escorted in to New York, arriving on 12 June 1777.
