Comments: This vessel had previously been captured by HM Frigate Galatea (Captain Thomas Jordan) on 20 December 1776 and converted to HM Schooner Tender Peggy. On 13 June 1777 an unknown American privateer recaptured this schooner right under the noses of two British frigates. Quickly responding, Galatea retook the schooner at 1430 and Perseus unsuccessfully chased the privateer, firing several shots at her. The British chased her into ten feet of water, and then hoisted out boats to continue their pursuit for another hour. Nightfall allowed the chase to escape. Peggy resumed her duties as a tender.
