Comments: Sloop Friendship (P. Lescet [Pierre Lefeet]; owned by Frederick Devenporte) was bound from Newburyport, Massachusetts to Martinique, French West Indies with a cargo of lumber. She sailed on 18 June 1777 under French colors. On 23 June 1777 she was 252 miles southeast of Cape Ann, Massachusetts (on George’s Bank) when she was sighted at 0800 by HM Frigate Flora (Captain John Brisbane). Friendship was captured at 1000. A petty officer and six men went aboard as a prize crew. Flora escorted her into Halifax, Nova Scotia.
