Comments: The 90-ton brig Friendship (Williams Lankford [Langsford] was bound from Boston, Massachusetts to Surinam, Netherlands West Indies with a cargo of tobacco, lumber, fish and staves. On 17 June 1777, off the New England coast, Friendship was captured by HMS Raisonable (Captain Thomas Fitzherbert), which was sailing from England to America. Her master was reported as a native of Providence, Rhode Island. The prize was sent into New York, New York, arriving about 1 July 1777. Lankford was confined on the prison ship at New York on 20 July 1777.
