At 1400 Milford sighted two sail to the north and chased, with Amazon and Orpheus in company. At 2200 the sloop Expedition (Jeremiah Dawsey), owned by Sears & Smith of Boston, Massachusetts, was captured. She was bound from Boston to St. Pierre, St. Pierre and Miquelon, French North America with a cargo of rice, indigo, and candles. She was sent into New York, New York.
