Comments: The sloop Salt River Packet (J. Spencer) was bound from St. Croix, Danish West Indies to St. Eustatius, Netherlands West Indies with a cargo of rice and hides. On 23 January 1777 she was sailing in the passage between St. Eustatius and Saba, Netherlands West Indies, when she was sighted by HM Frigate Hind (Captain Henry Bryne). Hind chased and fired nine 6-pounders before the sloop brought to. An officer and some men went aboard and Salt River Packet was sent into St. Kitts.
