Comments: Brig Ranger (James Renown) was sighted at 0700 by HM Frigate Phoenix (Captain Hyde Parker), which ran her down by 0800. Ranger had been captured by an unknown American privateer. Her prize crew of four men was removed and a midshipman and four sailors went aboard to secure the brig.
