Comments: Sloop Dolphin (John Field) was bound from Nantucket, Massachusetts to Turks Island, British West Indies, to obtain a load of salt. She had a little coffee aboard. On 20 January 1777, Dolphin was about ten miles southeast of Turks Island when she encountered HM Sloop Badger (Lieutenant Charles Holmes Everitt). Badger seized the sloop, put three men aboard as a prize crew, and her sent into Jamaica, where she was tried and condemned.
