Comments: The schooner Abigail (Harman Atwood) sailed from Chatham, Connecticut in ballast about the beginning of January 1777. About 12 January she was captured by HM Frigate Unicorn (Captain John Ford). She was apparently taken into Rhode Island. The crew was taken to Rhode Island where they were put aboard a cartel vessel on 8 February 1777 for exchange. She is listed in Howe’s Prize List as “Naby, Stephen Atwood” with the notation that she was captured on 16 January and was in ballast.
