Comments: HM Sloop Snake (Commander William Young) was on patrol off St. Martin, French West Indies, on 18 February 1778. Snake chased three sail and discovered them to be two American privateers and a prize they had taken. She captured thee 112-ton brigantine Anthony (Jesse Atwell) with a cargo of horses and a crew of nine men. The prize was sent into St. Christopher. Anthony was said to be bound from America for America.
