Comments: The 170-ton snow Adventure (William Coffin) was bound from Newburyport, Massachusetts to St. Eustatius, Netherlands West Indies with a cargo of lumber and fish. On 20 February 1777 she had the misfortune to encounter two of HM Frigates, Camilla (Captain Charles Phipps) and Perseus (Captain George Keith Elphinstone). The two frigates were in chase of another vessel, about one hundred miles to the northwest of Antigua, when Adventure was sighted to the north and steering toward the British. Eleven shots were fired from Camilla before she was stopped. The prisoners were removed and the prizes escorted into Antigua on 21 February. In the two prize lists mentioning Adventure, Perseus is credited with the capture. Adventure was condemned on 14 March 1777 (to the Perseus).
