Comments: Brig Betsey [Betsy] (Thomas Wood) was en route from Virginia when she was captured by HM Frigate Argo (Captain William Garnier). She was sent into St. John’s, Antigua. She had been tried and condemned there on 3 April 1776. “One negroe,” who may have been either part of the cargo or part of the crew, was also condemned and sold. Her date of capture is speculative.
