Comments: The 70-ton sloop Ranger (Daniel Bigelow) was owned in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She had a crew of nine men aboard in April 1777. Ranger sailed from Philadelphia on 19 March 177, bound to St. Eustatius, Netherlands West Indies with a cargo of tobacco and flour. On 4 April, she was captured at 18°20'N by HM Brig Antigua (Lieutenant William Swiney). Antigua sent an officer and six men aboard as a prize crew and sent her into Antigua, British West Indies. Ranger was tried and condemned on 28 April 1777.
