Comments: The schooner Polly was bound from St. Lucia, French West Indies for Ipswich, Massachusetts with a cargo of molasses and coffee. On 18 April 1777 HM Frigates Greyhound (Captain Archibald Dickson) and Diamond (Captain Charles Feilding) were about 160 miles east of Cape Ann. At 1530 Greyhound sighted a sail to the north. She soon came up with the schooner Polly. It took four 9-pounders and a 3-pounder to bring the Polly to surrender. Greyhound sent a mate and four men aboard as a prize crew and removed four prisoners.
