Comments: Brig Marquess of Kildare (Robert Pollet [Follet]) was sailing out of Guadeloupe, French West Indies bound for the Piscataqua River, New Hampshire with a cargo of salt, cordage, naval stores, gunpowder and dry goods. She had previously made at least one successful voyage to Portsmouth with war supplies. On 24 April 1777 she was captured by HM Armed Sloop Haerlem (Lieutenant John Knight) and sent into Halifax, Nova Scotia.
