Comments: The brig Le Bien Heureux (Gaspard Giurlavi [Guerlavais]) was bound from Martinique, French West Indies with a cargo of wine and dry goods. She was captured by HM Frigate Brune (Captain James Ferguson) and HM Sloop Merlin (Commander William C. Burnaby) on 15 or 16 April 1777, off the North Carolina coast. Le Bien Heureux was sent into New York, New York where she arrived on 30 April. She was tried and condemned in the Vice-Admiralty court in 1777.
