Comments: Brig Industry (John Jacques [Jaques]) was en route from Martinique, French West Indies to Virginia with a cargo of salt and medicines. On 2 April 1777 she was sailing north off the coast of North Carolina, near Currituck Sound. She was sighted in the afternoon and chased by HM Frigate Emerald (Captain Benjamin Caldwell). She was captured at 1700. The prisoners were removed and Industry was set on fire.
