Comments: Brig Bolton (William Stevens) was captured by HM Frigate Daphne (Captain St. John Chinnery) on 5 April 1777. She was bound from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a cargo of tobacco, flour, bread, tar, and turpentine. HM Frigate Thames (Captain Tyringham Howe) was in company when the capture was made. Bolton was dispatched for New York, New York, where she arrived on 13 April. She was tried and condemned there, being listed as an American merchant vessel.
