Comments: North Carolina Privateer Brig Bellona (Commander [Sylvanus] Pendleton) was at sea in September 1778. She captured the sloop Sophia (Tinker) bound from New York, New York to New Providence, Bahama Islands, with a cargo of dry goods. She was escorted into Newbern, North Carolina by the Bellona on 7 October 1778.
