Comments: The 130-ton brig Triton (Thomas Brinton) was bound from Newfoundland to the Mediterranean area with a cargo of fish. She was captured by the Continental Army Schooners Hancock (Captain Samuel Tucker) and Lee (Captain John Skimmer), probably around 25 October 1776. Triton arrived in Boston, Massachusetts on 9 November 1776.
Triton was libeled on 28 November 1776, with her trial set for 17 December 1776. She was purchased by John Bradford for the Secret Committee of the Continental Congress before 9 January 1777, along with part of her cargo.
