Comments: The 170-ton brigantine Sarah was bound to London, England from Jamaica, British West Indies with a cargo of rum, sugar, cotton, coffee, and ginger. About October 1776 Sarah was captured by the Maryland Privateer Schooner Montgomery (Commander Robert Polk). Sarah was sent into Hampton Roads, Virginia, where she arrived before 18 October, and was then taken to Jamestown, where she was tried and condemned. She and her cargo were advertised for sale on 8 November 1776, with the sale to be held on 25 and 29 November.
