Comments: The vessel Nancy and Mary (Lequest) was bound from Newfoundland to Bilbao, Spain, presumably with a cargo of fish. About October 1776 she was captured by an unknown American privateer. The privateer had previously captured several prizes and could not spare sufficient men to make up a prize crew. The Nancy and Mary was plundered and then released. She eventually got to Jersey, in the Channel Isles, from where the London papers published her story on 10 December 1776.
