Comments: The schooner Kitty and Nancy (William Pennock [Pinnock]), 95 tons, was outward bound from Nova Scotia with a cargo of fish, oil and wine. She was captured by the Massachusetts Privateer Schooner General Putnam (Commander Stephen Mascoll) about September 1776, and was brought into Salem, Massachusetts. Kitty and Nancy was libeled in the Maritime Court for the Middle District on 4 November 1776, and was tried on 22 November 1776. As the Kelly and Nancy (Reodret), she was reported as lost in the London papers on 27 December, and taken into Massachusetts. An advertisement appeared on 7 November for the sale of her cargo at Salem on 19 November. On 25 November the sale of the schooner was advertised, with the schooner listed as 90 tons. She was said to be Bermuda built of mahogany and cedar, and “a prime Sailer and well found.” The sale was to be held on 3 December 1776.
