Comments:  Ship Georgiana (Kentish) sailed from Bluefields, Jamaica in the 100 vessel convoy under escort of HM Frigate Pallas (Captain Corwallis). On 5 October Georgiana was chased and captured by Continental Navy Brig Cabot (First Lieutenant Elisha Hinman). Kentish reported she had fourteen 6-pounders, fourteen swivels, and 150 men. The Americans took all Georgiana's arms and powder, and as much of her cargo of rum, cotton, and sugar as they could carm aboard Cabot. Then they sent officers and sailors from four prizes they had taken aboard Georgiana (Clarendon, Westmoreland, Esther, and Lowther). They sent aboard three barrels of pork, some bread and water as additional provisions, and released Georgiana on 6 October. The crew and former prisoners were immediately placed on short rations and “must all have perished” had they not gotten more provisions from Betty (Angus) off the Scilly Isles. Georgiana arrived at Dover about 11 November 1776.
