Comments: Sloop Dragon, along with sloop Molly, were captured in mid-October (possibly) by Pennsylvania Privateer Sloops Chance (Commander James Robertson) and Congress (Commander William Greenway). These sloops were owned in New Providence (Nassau), in the Bahama Islands, and were specifically exempted by Congress from capture. The privateers sent them into Philadelphia anyway. They were later released, and Isaac Cox (who may have been the skipper of one of the sloops), petitioned Congress, on behalf of the owners, for a passport and safe conduct, on 18 November 1776.
[NDAR, VII, 12 and note, 198, 1086 and note [privateer Chance is probably incorrectly identified]]
