Comments: Brig Dispatch was captured about the end of October 1776 by Pennsylvania Privateer Sloop Congress (Commander William Greenway), sailing in company with Pennsylvania Privateer Sloop Chance (Commander James Robertson). The brig was bound for Cork, Ireland from the Grenadines, British West Indies. Her crew was removed and a prize crew was put aboard. Dispatch was ordered in to Philadelphia, but, on 23 November 1776, she was recaptured by HM Frigate Galatea (Captain Thomas Jordan), some 180 miles southeast of Sandy Hook.
