Comments: The 300-ton ship Camden [Cambden] (Joseph Richardson) was captured by Rhode Island Privateer Brigantine Putnam (Commander Christopher Whipple) in October 1776 and was brought to Boston on 21 October 1776, which may be different from the arrival date above, since she reportedly sailed from Antigua on 1 October 1776 bound for London, England. She was carrying dispatches from Vice Admiral Young to London, along with a cargo of sugar. Camden (as “Cambden”) was libeled on 31 October 1776. She was tried on 19 November 1776, and was probably bought by the Massachusetts Board of War for between £1000 and £2000 on 25 November.
