Comments: The 40 or 50-ton schooner Ranger (Andrew [Amasa] Lewis) was bound from Nova Scotia to the fishing grounds, with a cargo of provisions. She was captured, possibly in November 1776, by Massachusetts Privateer Sloop Putnam (Commander Joseph Bayley, Jr.). She was sent into Massachusetts [Maine] and was libeled in the Maritime Court of the Eastern District on 25 November, and tried on 13 December 1776.
