Comments: The brigantine Neptune (Lawrence Barron) was at sea about November 1776, with a cargo of salt, lemons, and wine. She was captured by the Massachusetts Privateer Sloop Union (Commander Isaac Somes), probably off the coast of Spain. Neptune was sent off to Gloucester, Massachusetts, where she arrived on 24 January 1777. She was libeled on 13 February 1777 and tried on 25 February. Neptune was advertised for sale, together with her cargo of salt, on 27 February, with the auction to take place on 10 March 1777.
