Comments: Brig Elizabeth (John Palmer), was bound from Marseilles, France, with a cargo of blankets, woolens, and linens, and sailing for the Secret Committee of Congress. She was captured by the Massachusetts Privateer Schooner Eagle (Commander Barzilla Smith). The alleged reason for the capture was that Palmer had “Obstanately protested that he would go to York because so Ordered.” Elazabeth was sent into Boston, Massachusetts, where she arrived on 13 December 1776.
