Comments: Brig Aurora (John Bishop) was part of a convoy of sixteen vessels, escorted by two armed vessels, en route to New York, New York with supplies for the Royal Navy. On 1 November 1776 she foundered near Ocracoke Inlet, North Carolina. Her cargo, captain and crew were captured by the Independent Company of North Carolina troops stationed at Cape Lookout, North Carolina.
