Comments: On 22 November 1776, during the raid on Canso, Nova Scotia by crewmen from the Continental Navy Ship Alfred (Captain John Paul Jones), a British Transport Brig laden with provisions was captured. The transport was en route to Quebec from Cork, Ireland, and had run aground in the harbor. The American landing party could not refloat her so she was burned.
