Comments: The 60-ton brigantine Bee (John Clarke) was libeled in the Massachusetts Maritime Court of the Middle District on 4 December 1783, with her trial set for 23 December. Bee was libeled by Commander John Patten [Pattin], “late commander” of Massachusetts Privateer Brigantine Active. This was a vessel that Patten had apparently captured back in 1781. He was captured by the British in July 1781, and had apparently never prosecuted the libel.
