Comments: The 150-ton ship Providence (Shepherd) was captured about July 1781, bound from Halifax, Nova Scotia with a cargo of provisions. She was captured by the privateer General Starks, and presumably sent into Boston, Massachusetts, where her trial was set for 21 August 1781 in the Maritime Court of the Middle District. The captor was probably the Massachusetts Privateer Ship General Stark (Commander William Coas).
