Comments: Maryland Privateer Brig Recovery (Commander Shoebail Spooner) was not commissioned until 30 April 1782. Even so, this is probably the “armed vessel” Recovery which brought several prizes into Baltimore in the summer of 178. The captured vessels were a barge, the schooner William and Polly (John Travis), the schooner Betsey (Benjamin Tyler), and a whaleboat. These were probably all captured in Chesapeake Bay.
