Comments: Schooner Carolina (James Johnson) was captured, perhaps in mid-July 1779, by Connecticut Privateer Sloop American Revenue (Commander Samuel Champlin). She was sent into New London, where she safely arrived. Carolina was libeled on 4 August 1779, with her trial set for 17 August 1779. Carolina, noted as 80 tons, was advertised for sale on 11 August 1779, with the sale to take place on 18 August. Some of her cargo of timber and tobacco was to be sold at the same time.
