Comments: The 70-ton sloop Alexander (Monkhouse) was captured about July 1779 by a privateer named Active. This was possibly the Massachusetts Privateer Schooner Active (Commander Andrew Gardner). She was bound from Grenada to Halifax, Nova Scotia with a cargo of provisions, and was sent into Boston, Massachusetts. Alexander was tried on 5 August 1779.
