Comments: The 40-ton schooner William (James Webber) was a West Indies vessel, a part of the homeward bound West Indies convoy. She was captured, probably in July 1777, somewhere off Newfoundland, by the Massachusetts Privateer Brigantine Fanny (Commander John Kendrick) and the Massachusetts Privateer Brig General Mercer (Commander James Babson). She was ordered to Boston. She was libeled there, by Babson only, on 18 September 1777, with trial set for 7 October 1777.
