Comments: South Carolina Privateer Sloop General Washington (Commander Hezekiah Anthony) was shadowing a British Jamaica convoy in early July 1777 with South Carolina Privateer Sloop Vixen (Commander Downham Newton). Sloop Susannah, credited to General Washington alone, was probably cut out of this convoy. She was from Jamaica to New Providence, and was sent off to Charleston. She arrived there, by way of the inland passage, on 21 July.
