Comments: Brig Judith (Alvara Lofthouse), bound from London, England to St. Augustine, East Florida was captured by South Carolina Navy Brigantine Notre Dame (Captain Stephen Seymour), probably early in July 1777. She was sent into Charleston, South Carolina. News of the capture was reported in London on 14 October 1777. On 16 October Elisha Sawyer advertised in the Charleston paper for any claimants for prize money to present themselves for payment.
