On 20 July 1777 Continental Navy Cutter Revenge (Captain Gustavus Conyngham) captured a a “Scotch smuggling Sloop, which we Plundered of some Gin for Stores and Burned. . .” She was the sloop Happy Return, bound from Rotterdam, The Netherlands to Scotland, with a cargo of gin, brandy cordials and tea. Another source indicates she was scuttled.
