Comments: Sloop Sally was one of five vessels captured about 23 July 1775 by detachments of Colonel James Cargill's regiment of Lincoln County militia. She had been engaged in procuring wood and provisions for the British at Boston and was captured at Majabigwaduce, Massachusetts [Maine]. The Committee of Inspection of Bristol took this vessel into detention and hauled her ashore. The owners were Boston Loyalists. After stripping the vessel the Bristol Committee petitioned the Massachusetts House of Representatives concerning disposition of this vessel on 30 July 1775. The Massachusetts Provincial Congress ordered the sloop to be detained pending further orders on 17 August 1775. On 22 September 1775 the House turned Bristol's petition over to a committee for consideration.
