Comments: This unknown schooner, loaded with provisions, was laying in Hungers Creek. On the night of 25 February 1776, thirteen escaped slaves took possession of her and sailed for Lord Dunmore’s fleet, laying at Norfolk, Virginia. In the morning she was overhauled by a whaleboat near York Spit, recaptured, and taken in to Hampton, arriving in the night. The thirteen slaves were detained under guard.
