Comments: Connecticut Privateer Sloop American Revenue (Commander Samuel Champlin, Jr.) was patrolling to the windward of Barbados in early December 1777. Here she met the 100-ton brigantine or brig Athol (James Wadie [Waddee]) and captured her. Athol was en route from Quebec with a cargo of fish and lumber, bound to Grenada or Dominica in the British West Indies. This prize arrived at New Bedford before 31 January 1777. She was libeled on 3 April 1777 with trial set for 23 April.
