Comments: Schooner Peggy (Haynes) was laying at Hampton on 30 December 1775. She was bound from St. Vincent’s to Norfolk, Virginia, with a small amount of rum and sugar. She was owned by Maximilian Calvert, a firm patriot. No further information is available, as to who detained her, but it may have been Virginia Navy Schooner Liberty (Captain James Barron). This is almost certainly the schooner of Calvert’s that was purchased in 1776 for the Virginia Navy.
